Local Talk Live recaps Story County elections
Celebrates Grand Opening of Ames History Center

KHOI’s Local Talk Live Program Wednesday recapped the results of the November 5 municipal elections in Story County, before highlighting the grand opening of the Ames History Center in downtown Ames.

Local Talk Live co-host Susan Franzen talked with Kathy Svec of the Ames Historical Society, about the group’s evolution from a store-front museum to a full-fledged history center at 416 Douglas Ave.

The public was invited to an open house at the center Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 7 p.m.

Susan and co-host Tom Beell also interviewed KHOI board president Ursula Ruedenberg about the station’s acquisition of the historic Pantorium Building for its broadcast studios.

The Pantorium is next door to the Ames Historical Center, and along with the Octagon Center for the Arts across the street, and the Ames Public Library in the next block, help to form what some have called a “culture gulch” in downtown Ames.

The program concludes with an interview with Pantorium building owner Dennis Jones, who talked about the structure’s history.

Local Talk Live is aired live at 7:00 AM, and repeated at 12:00 noon and 7:00 PM
